Using the data
MudShark – Solid Model Calculation
MudShark 3D takeoff tools allow you to effortlessly build a 4D model defining how the site currently looks and how you want the site to look after all earthworks are complete. This information is used by MudShark’s advanced solid modelling calculation engine to perform simulations of the earthworks. The end result is a richly visual and very precise representation of all your cut and fill, stripping re-spread and structure foundations.
Exporting the model
MudShark allows you to export your data in a number of formats such as Buildsoft Cubit, MS Excel and STL (a file used for 3D printers).
For users involved in BIM projects; it also exports to a unique DWG format which can be read back in to BIM authoring software such as Revit to enable an integrated view of your Earthworks and Building models.
What does it mean for the user?
The project manager has a record of the site as it exists and all modifications made including material types and distribution for the site as constructed.
This information can also be used in the future should the building be demolished and replaced to see what lies beneath the structure etc.
